Call for Workshops

The 2017 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (IEEE SMC 2017) will be held in Banff, Canada, on Oct. 5-8, 2017. In addition to the main technical program and the exposition, the program will host a number of workshops. The goal of the workshops will be to explore current and emerging research topics, and to provide a forum for authors to present early research results on these topics. The workshops should be focused and should allow members of the community to compare and discuss approaches, methods, and new concepts on research topics pertinent to the main conference. These topics often offer emerging interests to the Systems, Man, and Cybernetics research community or bridge the community with other areas. We aim to have a limited number of workshops, with a high quality program that consists mainly of contributed papers. The workshop organizers will have access to the same system for handling the review process as the one for the main conference. The workshop papers (of length up to 6 pages) will be submitted for inclusion to IEEE Xplore.

We seek proposals from individuals and teams interested in organizing vivid and compelling workshops. A workshop proposal should provide the following information:

  1. Title, scope, topics and expected duration (half or full day) of the workshop
  2. Workshop format (papers, demos, panels, invited speakers, etc.)
  3. Why the topic of the workshop is current and important;
  4. History of the workshop if any (where it was held, number of submissions, number of accepted papers, numbers of attendees in past years)
  5. Organizing team and tentative committee lists (organizers, steering committee if any, confirmed TPC members, etc.).

Please include a draft call-for-papers, if available.

Submission

Please submit a complete version of your proposal by 15 March 2017 in PDF format through the Workshop Proposal Submission Link under the smc2017.org web page. In case a workshop proposal is submitted early we may be able to make decision early, giving authors more time to promote their workshops and solicit paper submissions.
